With its ‘STEM for Climate Action’ theme, they will showcase and celebrate the difference that young people are making through STEM research, and equip more young people with the skills and opportunities they need to tackle global challenges. Taking place just days before COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference, the STEM for Climate Action Research Conference speaker line-up includes:

Eligibility criteria of Youth STEM Matters Research Conference 2022

  • All young people aged 22 & under can apply to take part in the Research Showcase at the Youth STEM Matters Research Conference. Individual or group submissions are welcome.
  • Youth globally can attend this free virtual event.
  • Whether you’re a teacher/university lecturer, a STEM competition organiser, or are representing a science fair, join to hear about how the young people you work with can access opportunities.
  • STEM Organisations can also apply.

Selection criteria for the Youth STEM Matters Research Conference 2022

  • STEM-based – your project should relate to science, technology, engineering or maths

  • Linked to at least 1 UN Sustainable Development Goal – NB: the link does not need to be explicitly stated

  • Published or unpublished projects are welcome

  • Complete projects or incomplete projects (i.e. research proposals) are welcome

Application process of the Youth STEM Matters Research Conference 2022

The application form has 3 main parts: a Project Abstract/Summary; a short Video Submission; and ‘Why You?’, explaining why you’d like this opportunity.

Project Abstract/Summary

Tell a bit about your project. If you already have an Abstract as part of your project report, you can use this, and if not, just tell them a bit about your project’s aims, what you did, and why your project is important. Answers should be a maximum of 250 words.

What is your project about? Tell them in a 60 second video!

Here, you’ll be asked to provide a link to a 60 second video (uploaded to YouTube (unlisted is fine!), Vimeo, WeTransfer, or similar) of you telling us about your project.

Don’t worry about the film quality or fancy equipment – recording yourself on a mobile phone is fine. Here, your communication and enthusiasm for your research are much more important!

Top tip: Don’t go over the 60 second time limit!
