The Generation Connect Global Youth Summit will be hosted in the Intare Conference Arena in Kigali, Rwanda, from June 2 to 4, 2022. It will take place prior to the World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC), with the subject “Connecting the Unconnected for Sustainable Development.” This overarching subject will be expanded to include sub-themes related to the BDT thematic priorities, areas of interest identified through young consultations, as well as the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Roadmap on Digital Cooperation.
The Generation Connect Global Youth Summit will be held in a hybrid format, with both physical and virtual youth participation. Physical participation is open to young people aged 18 to 29. Youth aged 15 to 29 will be able to participate virtually as well.
Eligible teenagers between the ages of 18 and 29 will be able to participate on-site. Participants should fall into one of the following categories:
- Youth designated and sponsored by an ITU Member* (Member State, ITU-D Sector member or Academia member)
- Youth who are members of the ITU Generation Connect Youth networks (i.e.: Generation Connect Regional Youth Envoys and Generation Connect Visionaries Board young leaders)
- Other youth receiving sponsorship from partners of the Generation Connect Global Youth Summit 2022.
Important note: Travel, lodging, meals, local travel fees, obligatory health checks, insurance, and other additional expenditures must be provided by the participant or the business supporting their participation in order to attend on-site.
