Persephone Miel Fellowship Pulitzer Center 2022 (up to $5,000)
The Persephone Miel Fellowship Pulitzer Center 2022 is now accepting applications. The Persephone Miel Fellowship is intended to assist journalists from countries other than the United States and Western Europe who are working on ambitious reporting projects and want to share their work with a larger global audience.
The Pulitzer Center oversees the Persephone Miel Fellowship, which was established in collaboration with Internews, a media development NGO. Journalists with limited access to other fellowships and whose work is not usually disseminated abroad benefit from the fellowship.
Persephone Miel, a former senior advisor at Internews who dedicated her life to advancing the work of journalists around the world, is the recipient of the fellowship. Miel fellowships entail reporting from the applicant’s home country—or accompanying them there.
Grant
- A $5,000 grant will be given to a reporting project on global issues and regions, with a focus on issues that have gone unreported or underreported in the mainstream media.
Eligibility
- Open to all journalists, writers, photographers, radio producers or filmmakers, staff journalists, as well as freelancers and media professionals from outside the United States and Western Europe who want to report from their home country but want their work to be published in worldwide venues.
- Applicants must be able to communicate in English.

Selection Criteria
- The Pulitzer Center will choose the fellowship recipient. The strength of the proposed topic and the applicant’s work as proven in his or her work samples will be used to make the final decision.
- Rather than individual field reports, they are looking for projects that investigate systemic challenges in the applicant’s home country and present an overarching thesis.

Applications should be submitted by April 24, 2022. Late applications will not be considered.
